Leading Communities Toward a Culture of health

Latin American Consulates

Working with the Latin American Consulate’s Consumer Affairs Departments, Gateway to Care provides one-on-one navigation services to visitors at the Mexican Consulate-Houston from 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. each day in the lobby.  Additionally, we provide educational programs to visitors waiting in the lobby as well as private consultation after 2:00 p.m. in our office on the third floor.

The goal of Ventanilla de Salud (Window on Health)  is to provide Mexican citizens or 1st generation US citizens living in the United States healthcare resources, services, and information. The Consulate averages about 600 visits per day, and, on a monthly basis, GTC assists almost 400 individuals and educational programs to 5,000 to 6,000 visitors.

In addition to those services, Gateway to Care’s CHW works with the Consulate’s legal department, recommends programs, assists Consumer Affairs in meeting their program needs, and consults with other Consulate staff as health related issues arise.  For more information, contact Dick Nye at 713-783-4616 or dnye@gatewaytocare.org.
